Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra has reaffirmed that the Government would strengthen and continue to support the Thai Women Empowerment Fund to develop Thai women and provide them with greater opportunities.
The Prime Minister referred to the Thai Women Empowerment Fund on 12 June 2025, when she presided over the launching of the project “Women’s Power for Development: Building Opportunity and Future” at the IMPACT Arena, Exhibition, and Convention Center, Muang Thong Thani, Nonthaburi Province.
She explained that the Thai Women Empowerment Fund was set up 13 years ago, with the aim of empowering Thai women and enhancing their potential by providing them with a revolving funding source with low-interest loans, in order to generate employment and income for them. The fund will also be used for projects to improve women’s quality of life and ease their problems.
The Prime Minister said that the fund belongs to Thai women across the country and that throughout the past 13 years, it has changed the lives of many women, enabling them to own their businesses and become community leaders.
The Government is in the process of using the digital system in managing the fund for greater transparency and easier operation. More investment will be offered in skill development for Thai women in order to equip them with knowledge about online marketing, new business management, and brand and business building on a sustainable basis, especially through the use artificial intelligence (AI).
At the same time, the Government is ready to open up more space for the new generation of women, as a way to enable them to play a greater role in managing the fund to drive the Thai economy and protect society from various threats. The Prime Minister believes that, when women’s networks become stronger, they will help build community resilience.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul stated that the Government had allocated over two billion baht for the Thai Women Empowerment Fund this year. The amount has been provided for all provinces nationwide, so that local women would be able to start their businesses and build on their existing business activities.
Deputy Minister of Interior Theerarat Samrejvanich said that the fund is entering the digital era and empowering young women. Staring this year, women may apply to join the fund through the "Thang Rat" application, a government-developed platform. This will provide them with easier access to business opportunities. She believes that the Thai Women Empowerment Fund will be moving toward a brighter future.
