The Government is preparing to organize various activities to commemorate three centennial anniversaries in honor of King Vajiravudh (Rama VI), King Ananda Mahidol (Rama VIII), and Her Royal Highness Princess Bejaratana, who was the only daughter of King Vajiravudh and Her Royal Highness Princess Suvadhana.
The three centennial anniversaries include (1) the 100th anniversary of the passing of King Vajiravudh, 25 November 2025, (2) the 100th anniversary of the birth of King Ananda Mahidol, 20 September 2025, and (3) the 100th anniversary of the birth of Her Royal Highness Princess Bejaratana, 24 November 2025.
Deputy Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai, Acting Prime Minister, recently chaired a meeting of the National Commission on the three centennial anniversaries, to be held to recall the benevolence of King Vajiravudh, King Ananda Mahidol, and Her Royal Highness Princess Bejaratana and to show Thai people’s loyalty to the monarchy.
Among the projects to mark these auspicious occasions are the production of commemorative coins, medals, and books, the issuance of commemorative postage stamps, and the organizing of merit-making activities, public services, and exhibitions. The meeting invited the public sector to carry out projects and activities to join these commemorative events.
As of 30 June 2025, 1,013 projects and activities had been proposed by 108 government agencies for the centennial celebrations. Among them, 340 projects and activities are dedicated to King Vajiravudh, 370 dedicated to King Ananda Mahidol, and 303 projects to Princess Bejaratana.
Commemorative activities in honor of King Vajiravudh and Her Royal Highness Princess Bejaratana will be held at Wat Phra Pathom Chedi Temple (Great Pagoda Temple) in Nakhon Pathom Province on Monday, 24 November 2025.
Commemorative activities in honor of King Ananda Mahidol will take place at Wat Suthat in Bangkok on Saturday, 20 September 2025.
The meeting also assigned the Government Public Relations Department to join other relevant agencies in producing programs and disseminating news and information through its media channels about these events, as well as the biographies and activities of King Vajiravudh, King Ananda Mahidol, and Her Royal Highness Princess Bejaratana.
