Cabinet Approves Compensation for Victims of Cambodian Attacks

The Cabinet, during its meeting on 5 August 2025, approved compensation of 10 million baht for the families of each soldier killed from Cambodian attacks and eight million baht for each civilian victim’s family, following a proposal by the Office of the National Security Council.

Government Spokesperson Jirayu Houngsub said that the criteria for the compensation apply from 16 July 2025 until the Thai-Cambodian border situation returns to normalcy. If more people are affected by the border clashes, the responsible agency will further seek additional compensation for them.

According to the approved rates, compensation of 10 million baht will be provided for the death and permanent disability of state officials (such as soldiers, rangers, and border patrol policemen). Those who were seriously injured will receive one million baht, and the badly injured 500,000 baht.

As for civilians, compensation of eight million baht will be provided for the death and permanent disability of a family member, while those who were seriously injured will receive 800,000 baht, and the badly injured 400,000 baht.

The Cabinet also approved 404.6 million baht to provide remedies for victims of the Thai-Cambodian border situation from 16 July to 2 August 2025.
