Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul Delivers Policy Statement in Parliament

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul delivered the policy statement of the Council of Ministers in the National Assembly on 29 September 2025, with an emphasis on tackling immediate economic, security, social, and environmental issues, as well as laying foundations for all dimensions of national development on a sustainable basis.

The joint parliamentary session, chaired by Parliament President Wan Muhamad Noor Matha, was scheduled for two days, on 29-30 September, with the participation of both senators and members of the House of Representatives.

In his policy statement, the Prime Minister said that his administration would protect the institutions of the Nation, Religion, and Monarchy, adhere to the democratic regime with the King as head of state, and uphold the rule of law, fair law enforcement, and national administration based on good governance for the benefit of the people.

He outlined five priority areas of action, as follows:

Economic issues – The Government will (1) reduce people’s expenses and generate more income for them, (2) ease household debt and increase liquidity, (3) provide greater saving opportunities for people, (4) restore confidence among tourists, and (5) address problems concerning impacts from trade wars.   

Security issues – The Government will resolve the Thai-Cambodian border disputes through peaceful means, enhance Thailand’s position on the global stage, and accelerate the tackling of problems in the southern border provinces, together with developing the local economy and improving local people’s quality of life.

Social issues – The Government will seriously suppress all forms of illegal gambling, combat corruption, and protect Buddhism and other religions.  

Natural disaster and environmental issues – The Government will accelerate the establishment of disaster warning instruments, develop disaster warning networks, promote the use of clean energy, and push for a low-carbon society.

National administration and legal reform –- A digital government will be further developed, while legislation to modernize public administration will be proposed, and legal and regulatory reforms will be accelerated.

The Prime Minister stated that the present administration is a minority government, with a clear timeframe to dissolve the House of Representatives to return power to the people. Moreover, the Government supports the holding of referendums for constitutional amendments, with the participation of all sectors of society.
