Minister of Culture Sabeeda Thaised has announced the policy of promoting the “power of culture,” aimed at sustaining the inheritance of Thai culture and moving it toward a sustainable future.
Ms. Sabeeda stated that the policy must produce concrete results within the Government’s timeframe of four months and "Quick Big Win" measures, with an emphasis on three flagship areas.
The first area aims to open up new cultural tourism sites in various communities, under the “Unseen Thai Thai” concept. The objective is to explore Thai cultural values, or “discover new Thailand.” Toward this aim, (1) provincial culture offices will work closely with local community leaders and wise elders in introducing cultural capital and new cultural tourist attractions, (2) digital and virtual cultural tourism will be developed, and (3) cultural spaces will be modernized to make them easily accessible, under the “Culture for All” concept.
The second area involves measures to push for a cash rebate scheme to support Thai entrepreneurs for the production of movies, series, animations, and music videos.
In the third area, the Cultural Products of Thailand (CPOT) will be promoted widely on international platforms. Thai entrepreneurs will be provided with opportunities to connect with global markets, under the “CPOT Next Gen: Thai Culture x Global Brands” program. They will also have new opportunities to work in designing with top designers. Marketing channels for CPOT will be expanded, especially at major festivals, to make them visible, accessible, and easy to buy.
The policy is expected to generate more employment and income for local communities. It will be implemented immediately to produce clear and concrete results and enhance Thailand’s competitiveness on the global stage.
