Strengthening Efforts to Ensure Equitable Access to Quality Public Health Services

The Ministry of Public Health is strengthening efforts to ensure that people of all ages and groups will have equitable access to public health services of good quality.

Minister of Public Health Pattana Promphat stated that kidney dialysis services would be improved for free treatment under the Universal Health Coverage program, also known as the “30-Baht Healthcare for Treatment Anywhere.”

The Government will expand its telemedicine system to cover all health centers at the subdistrict (tambon) level nationwide by December 2025.

It will continue to develop Thailand into a regional medical and wellness hub to bring in more income, while health tourism and traditional medicine will receive a major boost. The development of advanced therapy medicinal products will be accelerated, together with precision medicine with the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze genomic data.

Foreign workers will be urged to buy health insurance in order to reduce the financial burden on the Thai government and prevent and control epidemics systematically. In the initial stage, One Stop Service (OSS) centers have been established as a pilot project in four border provinces that host temporary shelters for people fleeing the conflict in Myanmar. The four provinces include Tak, Mae Hong Son, Kanchanaburi, and Ratchaburi.

Moreover, the Financial Data Hub (FDH) – Migrant Platform has been developed, linking data with the Health Insurance for Non-Thai People System (HINT) system. This will enable identity verification, the issuance of electronic medical certificates, and online purchase of government-provided health insurance.

The Ministry of Public Health also has a policy to upgrade all levels of health services, especially the primary healthcare program, and develop village public health volunteers as care providers for older persons. It will push for the issuance of laws to provide greater protection and welfare for village public health volunteers.
