The Cabinet, during its meeting on 14 October 2025, approved a combined budget of 456 million baht for the organizing of the 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA) Games and 13th ASEAN Para Games in 2025.
At the same meeting, a separate budget framework of 264.35 million baht was also approved for the organizing of World Capital Marathon Series, under the title “Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok,” for a three-year period from 2025 to 2027.
Out of the budget of 456 million baht, around 166 million baht will be used to organize the opening and closing ceremonies of the upcoming SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games and royal torch relay activities, 30 million baht for public relations and the International Broadcast Center, and about 260 million baht for accommodation, meals, transportation, and laundry for athletes, officials, and international participants.
These sports events are expected to create economic value of 5,285 million baht. They would also show Thailand’s great potential and readiness for tourism and sports industries, while promoting a favorable image of Thailand as a regional leader in tourism and sports.
The Sports Authority of Thailand was entrusted with seeking sponsorships from the private sector and state enterprises to cover additional expenses.
The 2025 SEA Games Thailand 2025 will take place from 9 to 20 December across three host areas, namely Bangkok and its vicinity, Chon Buri, and Songkhla. Thailand has set a target to receive 252 gold medals from the SEA Games and 233 gold medals from the ASEAN Para Games.
As for the Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok, the budget of 264.35 million baht will be used to pay license and taxes related to the marathon’s international hosting rights. The marathon events are expected to generate at least 4,377 million baht for Thailand throughout the three-year period.
In 2025, the Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok will take place from 27 to 30 November in Bangkok. The event is expected to generate at least 1,459 million baht in direct impact from employing personnel and economic impact from travels for tourism and sports competitions by both Thai and international participants.
