Minister of Culture Sabeeda Thaised on 18 October 2025 visited the Museum of Islamic Cultural Heritage and Al-Quran Learning Center in Narathiwat Province, which is scheduled for an official opening ceremony in early next year.
During the visit, the Minister of Culture chaired a meeting to discuss preparations for the opening of the museum, where valuable scriptures of the Quran from around the world are collected and preserved for people who wish to study and learn about the Islamic way of life and culture.
This beautiful museum is located in the Smanmit Witya School area, Lahan Subdistrict, Yi-ngo District. There are currently 79 ancient Al-Quran scriptures, with ages ranging from 150 to 1,200 years, displayed at the museum.
Ms. Sabeeda believes that, after the official opening, the museum will attract a great number of local and international tourists, especially those from the Muslim world. She described the museum as Thailand’s important source of knowledge about history and Islamic culture.
Apart from being a magnet for tourist arrivals, the museum also serves as an educational center for students and researchers, as well as other interested people.
The Museum of Islamic Cultural Heritage and Al-Quran Learning Center consists of exhibitions, featuring ancient Al-Quran texts, manuscripts of diverse knowledge, Muslim traditions, and ancient technology and equipment. There is also a zone for selling products. The Minister of Culture called for the display and sale of cultural products from local communities, in order to generate more income for local people and the museum, as well.
In this 2026 fiscal year, the Fine Arts Department, under the Ministry of Culture, will hand over the responsibility of managing the museum to the Narathiwat Provincial Administrative Organization.
