Joining Loy Krathong Celebrations and Vijit Chao Phraya 2025

Many areas across Thailand are organizing various activities to celebrate Loy Krathong Festival, which is one of the most fascinating water-based cultural events in Thailand. The Government has invited members of the public and international tourists to join Loy Krathong celebrations and “Vijit Chao Phraya 2025.”

The annual Loy Krathong is on the full moon night of the 12th lunar month, which this year falls on 5 November. The celebrations last a few days in many areas. During this period of national mourning after the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, the public is requested to observe the festival in a respectful manner, as a tribute to the Queen Mother.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will present Vijit Chao Phraya 2025, a reimagined light and sound spectacular under the theme “Light of Siam – Mother of the Land,” from 9 November to 23 December 2025 along both banks of the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok.

According to TAT, the event has been refined to reflect the national mourning period in honor of the Queen Mother. Presented nightly from 18.00 to 22.00 hr, the event features softened color tones and elegant light designs symbolizing remembrance, compassion, and grace. Drone performances replace fireworks, offering a serene visual tribute across the river skyline. An at the end of December, on New Year’s Eve, a candle-lighting ceremony titled “Light of the Nation” will mark the occasion in remembrance of Her Majesty the Queen Mother.

The Vijit Chao Phraya 2025 experience spans 14 major landmarks from Rama VIII Bridge to Rama III Bridge, each interpreting the theme through light, sound, and storytelling.

The 14 landmarks include (1) Rama VIII Bridge, (2) Khlong Bangkok Noi – Mouth of Khlong Dusit (Siriraj Hospital), (3) Siriraj Bimuksthan Museum (Siriraj Hospital), (4) Royal Thai Naval Institute (Royal Thai Navy Headquarters), (5) Nagaraphirom Park, (6) Wat Arun Ratchawararam (Temple of the Dawn), (7) Wichai Prasit Fort, (8) Wat Kalayanamitr Woramahawihan, (9) Phra Phutthayotfa Bridge (Memorial Bridge), (10) Phra Pok Klao Bridge, (11) Abandoned Building at Soi Lhong 1919, (12) Holy Rosary Church (Kalawar), (13) ICONSIAM, and (14) Bangkok Dock Company Limited (Waterway Crane Installation).
