State of Emergency Has Been Declared in Flood-Stricken Songkhla Province

Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul has signed an executive decree declaring a state of emergency in Songkhla Province, which is facing severe and widespread flooding.

The declaration was made on 25 November 2025, following the approval of the Cabinet. The Supreme Commander of the Royal Thai Armed Forces has been appointed the lead official responsible for managing the emergency response.

Speaking after the Cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister explained that a command center would be established to accommodate the implementation of the Emergency Decree on Public Administration in Emergency Situations. A team of spokespersons would also be formed to provide updates and relevant information to the public.

He said that various agencies have sent officials to help people in all affected areas and provide them with food, essential supplies, and transport to support the relief operations. When the situation improves, an emphasis will be placed on the rehabilitation process, so that the flood victims will be able to return to their homes and resume their normal lives.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed that the situation is under control and that flood water must be released as soon as possible. The Government is working at the best of its ability and has raised the flood situation in Songkhla to Level 4, with the Permanent Secretary for Interior expanding the authority to issue cross-functional orders in order to cope with the flood situation.

The Government is also preparing to offer remedies for both the affected people and entrepreneurs. Assistance measures will be worked out jointly by the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Labor, and the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society.
