The Government has established the Media Coordination and Public Information Center to manage communication and information during the southern flood crisis. Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Supamas Isarabhakdi serves as Director of the Center.

Minister Supamas on 27 November 2025 chaired a meeting at Government House to set guidelines for media communication to ensure effective flood crisis management. She said that many provinces have been impacted by the widespread flooding across the South. The situation needs a communication system that provides accurate and reliable news reports, so that the general public will receive clear and timely information.

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul had signed an order establishing the Media Coordination and Public Information Center, headed by Minister Supamas, and making  it responsible for gathering information from all relevant government agencies for dissemination to the public. 

Minister Supamas explained that information management in this regard must be carried out in the same direction in order to reduce public confusion and wipe out the conditions that may lead to disinformation in times of crisis.

The center will provide real-time information, drawing updates from the Regional Public Relations Office 5 and the Regional Public Relations Office 6, under the Government Public Relations Department (PRD). Both regional offices supervise public relations work in all 14 southern provinces.  

The reports will also come from provincial governors, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC), military units, and other relevant state agencies. 

The center will also receive public reports through the Government Hotline 1111, the DDPM Hotline 1784, PRD online platforms, government apps, and the Traffy Fondue system, and will forward each issue to the responsible agency for action.

It will spread a twice-daily “one-page infographic” summarizing essential information, including severity maps, risk zones, shelter locations, donation points, utility status, road accessibility, assistance operations, and infrastructure restoration. Economic relief measures and landslide alerts will also be included. The infographic will be released at 11.00 hr and 17.00 hr via PRD and NBT channels before being forwarded to all media organizations.

Minister Supamas said that the Media Coordination and Public Information Center would issue press releases based on verified updates, and they would be disseminated through all PRD channels, so that the media would receive accurate and timely information, which would be further made known to the public. She cited unified communication as an important factor to help flood crisis management in southern Thailand.
