The Immigration Bureau has announced an overstay fine exemption for foreign nationals who are unable to depart because of flooding in eight southern provinces, namely Songkhla, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Trang, Satun, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat.
The exemption applies to travelers whose permitted stay expires between 20 November and 31 December 2025, and who are unable to leave the country due to impassable routes or transport disruptions. This is a temporary exemption due to unavoidable travel conditions to support affected visitors who have no intention of overstaying.
Immigration officers at all international entry and exit points have been instructed to apply the exemption, while routine security procedures remain in place. Provincial immigration offices affected by flooding are being restored to resume normal services as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) noted that conditions in southern Thailand have begun to improve, although some areas continue to experience flooding and intermittent rainfall.
Many destinations remain open and continue to offer tourism experiences as normal, while certain provinces are still reporting localized flooding, temporary transport adjustments, and safety-related closures at selected attractions. Airports across the region remain operational, with limited delays and some disruptions to ground transfers in affected districts.
TAT’s Tourism Crisis Monitoring Center (TCMC) remains active to enhance coordination with provincial authorities, consulates, and tourism partners. The center supports ongoing assistance for travelers, verifies local travel information, and ensures timely communication as conditions continue to stabilize across multiple provinces.
