The Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) has set Sunday, 8 February 2026, from 08.00 to 17.00 hr, as the date for the next general election in Thailand, following the dissolution of the House of Representatives that took effect on 12 December 2025.

The ECT has also set the following dates relating to the upcoming general election:

- Sunday, 1 February 2026: Advance voting day, both within constituencies and outside constituencies. Voters who want to cast ballots in advance in Thailand or overseas may register between 20 December 2025 and 5 January 2026 with district or local registrars, or with Thai ambassadors overseas or the persons assigned by the ambassadors. Registration may also be submitted by post and online.

- Registration for the election of members of the House of Representatives on a constituency basis will be open from 27 to 31 December 2025, between 08.30 and 16.30 hr, at the venue designated by the constituency election director.

- Registration for party list candidates and prime ministerial candidates will be open from 28 to 30 December 2025, between 08.30 and 16.30 hr, and on 31 December 2025, between 08.30 and 16.00 hr, at the Centara Life Government Complex Hotel and Convention Center on Chaeng Watthana Road, Bangkok. Each political party is allowed to nominate up to three candidates for the prime minister post.

Voters who are unable to cast their ballots on Election Day may notify authorities between either 1 and 7 February 2026, or 9 and 15 February 2026.

On the election day, each voter will be provided with two ballots in different colors; one to elect a political party for party list MP candidates, and the other to elect constituency MP candidates.

The ECT on 20 December issued a regulation allowing a national referendum on the rewriting of the Constitution of Thailand to be held on the same day as the general election. The regulation will take effect in the date it is published in the Royal Gazette.
