Government Establishes Joint Management and Monitoring Center for the Situation in the Middle East

Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul signed an order of the Prime Minister’s Office on 6 March 2026, appointing the Joint Management and Monitoring Center for the Situation in the Middle East to address impacts of the Middle East conflict and closely monitor the situation.

Under this order, the Prime Minister serves as advisor to the center, while the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport serves as director and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance as deputy director.

The center is responsible for analyzing and assessing the Middle East situation and proposing guidance and measures to the Government in order to prevent and minimize impacts that may occur. It will also coordinate with both the public and private sectors in dealing with the situation in unified operations.

In his capacity as Director of the Joint Management and Monitoring Center for the Situation in the Middle East, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn on 6 March at 17.00 hr chaired a meeting of the center.

The meeting discussed guidelines for effective communication of the situation. It assigned the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to provide briefings on the overall situation and updates on assistance to Thai nationals in the affected areas. Other relevant agencies will also join the briefings on the topics in which the public is interested, such as those concerning energy, assistance for Thai nationals overseas, and the ensuring of safety for foreigners staying in Thailand.

The meeting heard reports from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the conflict in the Middle East and operations by relevant agencies in preparation for coping with adverse effects on economic affairs, energy, trade, tourism, and the safety of Thai nationals overseas.

Minister of Energy Auttapol Rerkpiboon emphasized the stability of Thailand’s energy situation, saying that the Government has continued to diversify energy imports from various countries and implement appropriate measures to reserve fuel oil. 

Moreover, Thailand has temporarily suspended its oil exports and the Government is preparing to launch energy-saving campaigns. In this regard, the public has been urged to follow up on news and information from government agencies on the issue and not to panic.
