Bangkok has been crowned the Best City in the Asia-Pacific at the DestinAsian Readers' Choice Awards 2026 for the third consecutive year by DestinAsian magazine, which is a premier travel and lifestyle publication, focusing exclusively on the Asia-Pacific region.

Coming after Bangkok are Tokyo, Singapore, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Ho Chi Minh City, and Kuala Lumpur.

Bangkok’s top ranking was driven by four key factors, namely (1) harmonious blend of contrasts, with centuries-old temples and ornate heritage sites alongside modern, gleaming skyscrapers, (2) renowned culinary scene, with a mix of world-class fine dining and legendary, accessible street food, (3) diverse travel experiences, with luxury hotels, cultural districts, nightlife and attractions for all travelers, and (4) warm hospitality, with friendly service and the welcoming spirit of the “City of Smiles."

DestinAsian cited the Thai capital as a vibrant metropolis where centuries-old temples stand beside gleaming skyscrapers, riverboats cruise along the Chao Phraya, and the BTS Skytrain glides above lively streets. From heritage landmarks and world-class shopping to legendary street food and fine dining, Bangkok truly has it all.

According to the latest Ticket Collection 2026 report, Thailand ranks second among the world’s top 10 holiday destinations and Bangkok secures the number one position as the most booked city destination for 2026.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand stated that Thailand’s rise to second place globally, alongside Bangkok’s position as the world’s most booked city for 2026, reflects continued traveler confidence and the effectiveness of the country’s strategy to drive quality-led tourism. These results reinforce Thailand’s position as a preferred destination offering depth, diversity, and memorable experiences that resonate strongly with international travelers.

Bangkok is also recognized as one of the world’s gastronomic capitals. In the recent Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best 2026 for food destinations, Bangkok ranked fourth in Asia and ninth globally in the Food-World category, and first in ASEAN and second in Asia for Best of the Best Destinations in the Food-Asia category.
