Cabinet Approves Seven Measures to Help People Cope with impacts of Middle East Conflict

The Cabinet, during its special meeting on 26 March 2026, chaired by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, approved seven measures to help people, especially those in vulnerable groups, cope with impacts of the situation in the Middle East.

In the first measure, the Ministry of Finance was instructed to consider lowering excise taxes on fuel, including the duration of reduction, as appropriate.

The second measure seeks to offer an additional 100 baht for one month for holders of state welfare cards. This decision will raise the monthly allowance from 300 to 400 baht for holders of state welfare cards, who are low-income earners. After the new government assumes office, it will assess the situation thoroughly, to determine if this measure will continue to be implemented.

The third measure involves subsidies to be provided to operators in the transport sector, which includes trucks, public buses, and motorcycle taxis.

In the fourth measure, the Ministry of Commerce is launching the “Green Flag” project to help cut fertilizer costs for farmers, promote the use of alternative and organic fertilizers, and reduce Thailand’s reliance on imports.

The fifth measure seeks to provide low-cost fuel for the fishing sector by encouraging fishing operators to use B20 biodiesel, which will reduce their fuel costs by 5-6 baht per liter.

In the sixth measure, government agencies will be allowed to extend periods of inspection and acceptance of work for contractors on state projects and consider compensation for cost increases. The Bureau of the Budget has agreed to consider this issue.

In the seventh measure, the Ministry of Finance, through the Government Savings Bank, will provide 10 billion baht as soft loans to boost liquidity for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), as well as supply chain operators.
