The Joint Management and Monitoring Center for the Situation in the Middle East held a press briefing on 27 March 2026 at 11:05 hr on the progress of managing the impacts of the conflict in the Middle East.
Mr. Danucha Pichayanan, Secretary-General of the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council, stated that from 1 to 25 March, a total of 4.231 billion liters of fuel has been brought in, which is sufficient for domestic use. Additional supply is expected, with over 4 million barrels arriving later in March, 24 million barrels in April, and more than 8 million barrels in May.
Exports remain limited to only two countries – Lao PDR and Myanmar. The Prime Minister has instructed relevant agencies to explore importing refined fuel from alternative sources for export to Lao PDR, to reserve domestically refined fuel for national energy security.
Mr. Wutthitat Tantivess, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Energy Business, reported that average daily diesel circulation, including domestic sales and exports, between 1 and 24 March stood at 86.18 million liters, while gasoline sales averaged 35.10 million liters per day with no exports.
Meanwhile, the Fuel-Now application is being developed in collaboration with the Digital Government Development Agency, enabling the public to check real-time fuel availability at service stations via the “Tang Rath” application in the future.
Ms. Kanitha Kungsawanich, Inspector General and Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce, stated that, in order to ease the impact of rising costs, the Ministry has prepared six key measures. The “Thai Help Thai: Reduce Burden, Lower Cost of Living” campaign will launch on 1 April in collaboration with modern trade retailers and suppliers, offering discounts of up to 25-50% on consumer goods. This will be complemented by the expansion of the “Blue Flag” low-cost scheme to cover all community levels, and support for farmers through the “Green Fertilizer Plus” program, which provides special discounts for eligible farmers.
Mr. Panidone Pachimsawat, Acting Director-General of the Department of Information and Deputy Spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the situation in the Middle East remains volatile. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs urges Thai nationals to leave high-risk areas as soon as possible. Regarding assistance efforts, officials have now gained access to the Mayuree Naree cargo vessel and are in the process of rescuing the three Thai crew members on board.
The body of Mr. Chaiwat Waewhin, who lost his life following the 18 March bombing incident in Israel, arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport on 27 March, when a memorial ceremony was held before the body was sent to his hometown in Chaiyaphum Province for religious rites.
