The Thailand Biennale Phuket 2025, an international contemporary art festival, being held across Phuket Province, has proved successful, attracting a great number of visitors and elevating Thailand to a prime global tourism destination.
Minister of Culture Sabeeda Thaised stated that the five-month festival, taking place from 29 November 2025 to 30 April 2026, has so far attracted 2.4 million visitors and generated almost 29 billion baht in economic circulation on Phuket Island.
She said that the economic value also included spending by both Thai and international tourists, reinforcing Thailand’s status as a world-class destination for art and cultural tourism. The premier international contemporary art event also reflects the country’s “soft power” and cultural diplomacy through cultural and artistic resources.
Ms. Sabeeda said that the festival had also attracted the attention of the international media, such as The New York Times, which presents the new image of Phuket in the dimensions of art and culture. It also celebrates another side of Phuket and its rich history of applied arts.
The Thailand Biennale Phuket 2025 marks the fourth edition of the festival, covering three districts – Mueang, Kathu, and Thalang – under the theme “Eternal Kalpa,” exploring relationships between humans and nature through installations, sculptures, performances, and interactive works. Previous editions took place in Krabi (2018), Nakhon Ratchasima (2021), and Chiang Rai (2023).
Organized jointly by Phuket Province and the Office of Contemporary Art and Culture under the Ministry of Culture, the Thailand Biennale Phuket 2025 brings together over 60 artists and artist collectives from 25 countries, both Thai and international, to create and exhibit contemporary art across 19 venues on this island.
The Minister of Culture is scheduled to visit Phuket in early April to follow up on the festival performance and gather suggestions and recommendations in order to organize the next edition of the festival, which is set to be held in the eastern province of Rayong.
She also invites the public and international tourists to explore contemporary artworks and participate in the diverse exhibitions and artistic activities at the Thailand Biennale Phuket 2025, which will run through 30 April.
