Launching of the “Thais Help Thais” Campaign to Help Ease the Cost of Living

The public and private sectors are joining hands in the “Thais Help Thais” campaign, offering discounts of up to 58 percent on many consumer products to help ease the cost of living for the people during the ongoing crisis in the Middle East and oil price increases.

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul on 1 April 2026 presided over the launching of the campaign at Santi Maitri Building, Government House. The Prime Minister said that the Government was well aware of the people’s hardships caused by the higher cost of living, following the Middle East situation, and therefore assigned the Ministry of Commerce to offer new options for consumers.

He thanked the Ministry of Commerce, participating wholesalers and retailers, as well as large manufacturers for their cooperation in providing the public with access to affordable essential products, with good quality, to help cut their expenses.

The Prime Minister pointed out that the campaign would also open up new marketing opportunities for smaller entrepreneurs to make their products better known among consumers. However, relevant authorities would continue to closely monitor the price situation and take legal action against wrongdoers, to ensure that people would be able to get through the current economic challenges smoothly.

Meanwhile, at the press briefing of the Joint Management and Monitoring Center for the Situation in the Middle East on 1 April, Mr. Nantapong Jiralertpong, Director of the Trade Policy and Strategy Office and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce, explained that the “Thais Help Thais” program offers discounts of 30-50 percent on house-brand consumer goods, such as soap, shampoo, rice, soybean oil, and palm oil.

For example, a 400 ml bottle of shampoo is reduced from 165 baht to 79 baht (52% discount), and a bag of 5 kg of 35% white rice is reduced from 155 baht to 79 baht (49% discount).

The program is supported by modern wholesale and retail chains, including Makro, Lotus’s, 7-Eleven, Big C, Go Wholesale, Tops, Tops Daily, Watsons, Foodland, and Gourmet Market. The first phase of this campaign will run from April to May, and in the second phase, community products will join the campaign. More information may be obtained at the Ministry of Commerce’s hotline 1570.
