Commemorative Events to Mark Three Auspicious Occasions

The Government is preparing to organize various activities to commemorate three auspicious occasions in honor of His Holiness Somdet Phra Ariyavongsagatayana, the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand; Her Majesty Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana; and Queen Rambhai Barni, the Queen of the Seventh Reign.

His Holiness the Supreme Patriarch will be 99 years of age on 26 June 2026. “The Celebrations on the Occasion of His Holiness Somdet Phra Ariyavongsagatayana the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand’s 99th Birthday Anniversary 26th June 2026” is scheduled for 1 March - 31 December 2026.

Major activities to be organized to mark this occasion include (1) Buddhist chanting and merit-making events on 26 June at 07.00 hr, (2) ordination to dedicate merit to the Supreme Patriarch between 13 and 29 June at Wat Ratchabophit, (3) exhibition between 19 and 21 June at Wat Ratchabophit, and (4) the production of a commemorative book, coins, medals, and postage stamps.

Her Majesty Queen Suthida will turn 48 on 3 June 2026. “The Celebrations on the Auspicious Occasion of Her Majesty the Queen’s 4th Cycle Birthday Anniversary 3rd June 2026” is also scheduled for 1 March - 31 December 2026. Royal ceremonies will be held on 3-4 June.

Major activities to celebrate this occasion include alms-giving and Buddhist chanting ceremonies, presentation of floral offerings as a tribute to Her Majesty, candle-lit tribute-paying ceremony, and a grand reception in honor of Her Majesty. Members of the public will be invited to sign their names expressing their best wishes to Her Majesty online from 1 to 15 June 2026. 

Preparations are also underway for a royal barge procession on 6 November for Their Majesties the King and Queen’s royal journey to present kathin robes to a congregation of monks at Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn).

The commemorative event for Queen Rambhai Barni, the Queen of the Seventh Reign, is to mark the centennial celebration of the Queen’ s legacy. UNESCO has included the 100th anniversary of Queen Rambhai Barni’s contributions to education, social development, and gender equality in its “Anniversaries Celebration” program for 2026-2027.

Major activities to be organized by the Government from 22 May to 31 December include alms-giving and Buddhist chanting ceremonies and the organizing of exhibitions in honor of the Queen. Various government agencies have also been encouraged to carry out activities and projects to join this celebration.
