Ambassadors, representatives of foreign embassies and honorary consulates in Thailand, representatives of Thailand’s Pride networks, and distinguished guests from various sectors on 2 July 2026 attended the event “On the Road to Bangkok WorldPride 2030: Connecting the Diplomatic Community with Pride Networks” at Dusit Thani Bangkok.
The event was co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, and the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau to advance Thailand’s bid to host Bangkok WorldPride 2030.
Mr. Panidone Pachimsawat, Deputy Director-General and Acting Director-General of the Department of Information, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, delivered remarks at this event, reaffirming Thailand’s steadfast commitment to promoting human rights, equality, and the rights of persons of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities.
He said that Thailand is the first country in Southeast Asia to legalize same-sex marriage and continues to play a constructive role in advancing the rights of LGBTQI+ persons in multilateral fora, including the United Nations Human Rights Council and the Equal Rights Coalition. Thailand also remains committed to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals, including Goal 5 on Gender Equality.
Thailand, through Naruemit Pride, also known as Bangkok Pride, has submitted its candidature to host Bangkok WorldPride 2030. The bid is supported by the Pride City Network Thailand, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, as well as a broad coalition of public and private sector partners.
If Thailand is selected as the host, it will mark the first time that WorldPride will be held in Asia. It would also reinforce Thailand’s position as a society that values diversity and inclusion, while enhancing the country’s international profile, strengthening its creative industries, advancing the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) industry, promoting high-quality tourism, and supporting the growth of Thailand’s Pink Economy.
