Provincial Network Synergy in Communication Plan for 2026 IMF-World Bank Group Annual Meetings

Director-General of the Government Public Relations Department (PRD) Sudruetai Lertkasem on 8 July 2026 participated in a preparatory meeting for Thailand’s hosting of the 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG) this October. 

The preparatory meeting was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Ekniti Nitithanprapas and attended by more than 80 representatives from relevant agencies. It followed up on progress of the preparations for the upcoming IMF-World Bank Group Annual Meetings, with an emphasis on driving a communication strategy to promote public participation through three key ideas: Excitement, Sense of Pride, and Feeling of Joy.

The PRD Director-General proposed a communication approach by using provincial government network to enhance communication coverage and ensure access across the nation. She emphasized that the key message of the communication strategy was to create a better understanding among Thai people of how the 2026 IMF-World Bank Group Annual Meetings relate to and benefit them. 

The meeting also approved the proactive communication plan, which will officially begin rolling out on 14 July 2026. It acknowledged schedules of the meetings and activities to be held from 12 to 18 October 2026 during the event at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok.

This event will be one of the world’s most important international economic and financial gatherings. More than 15,000 participants from 191 countries, including finance ministers, central bank governors, international organizations, business leaders, academics, and civil society representatives, are expected to attend.
