Thailand ranks as one of the top four global exporters of artificial-intelligence (AI)-related hardware alongside Taiwan, Malaysia, and South Korea, according to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) World Economic Outlook.
Speaking on 12 July 2026, Government Spokesperson Rachada Dhnadirek pointed out that the latest report by IMF reflects Thailand’s growing role in the global technology industry and its move toward becoming a global hub for future technology production.
She said that the Government is accelerating the development of the investment ecosystem, digital and energy infrastructure, a highly skilled workforce, and research and innovation, as well as facilitating investment. In addition, it has formed the National Semiconductor Policy Committee to drive Thailand's efforts to become a major production base and supply chain for the global technology industry.
Ms. Rachada said that Thailand has also enhanced international cooperation on AI development and governance by actively promoting a people-centered, transparent, and responsible approach that balances innovation with the protection of public interests. This will help build investor confidence and strengthen Thailand’s competitiveness in the new digital economy era.
The Government will also continue to push for further investment in the next-generation industries in order to attract high-value businesses, create quality jobs, promote technology transfer, increase Thai people’s income, and elevate Thailand’s position from a production base for the electronics industry to a regional hub for AI and semiconductor industries. This will reinforce the country’s stable and sustainable economy in the future, Ms. Rachada said.
