Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Supamas Isarabhakdi has presented certificates of recognition to 10 model communities for Thai textile development, elevating local fabrics into modern fashion.
The presentation ceremony took place at Tara Hall, M Floor, ICONSIAM, in Bangkok on 13 August 2026, when Minister Supamas also presided over the closing of the exhibition and academic forum “Cultural Capital Legacy: Fashion,” organized by the Government Public Relations Department (PRD).
The event was attended by Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office Yupha Taweewattanakitborvon, PRD Director-General Sudruetai Lertkasem, executives, working groups, and members of the public.
The certificate presentation ceremony was held to recognize and encourage local weavers and community entrepreneurs who collaborated with leading designers, stylists, and experts to transform traditional local wisdom into more than 400 contemporary fashion pieces and products. Their cooperation supports the “Fun with Thai Fabrics” project initiated by Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya.
The 10 model communities awarded certificates of recognition are as follows:
* Sriwichai Weaving Group, Surat Thani Province;
* Tho. Motho Group, Udon Thani Province;
* Khwanta Group, Nong Bua Lamphu Province;
* ME-D NATHAP Group, Songkhla Province;
* T. Chattuwan Group, Roi Et Province;
* Montra Thikarn Group, Kalasin Province;
* Thai Silk Village Co., Ltd., Chiang Mai Province;
* Woo Mai Thai – Ban Mae San Ban Tong Weaving Group, Lamphun Province;
* Impani Group, Ratchaburi Province;
* Mai Thong Suranaree Group, Nakhon Ratchasima Province.
Ms. Supamas commended the 10 communities as preservers and innovators of Thailand's cultural heritage for transforming traditional textile wisdom into refined, contemporary craftsmanship that can be worn in everyday life.
She also emphasized the potential of Thai textiles to grow alongside the global fashion industry, generate income for local communities, and contribute to sustainable economic development.
