Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul has presided over the handover ceremony of financial assistance and emergency relief supplies offered by the Royal Thai Government to the Government of Nepal for those affected by severe flash floods and mudslides in Nepal.

The handover ceremony took place on 4 September 2026 at Government House, with Mr. Dhan Bahadur Oli, Ambassador of Nepal to Thailand, receiving the assistance on behalf of his government. It was also witnessed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Public Health Pattana Promphat, and Deputy Minister of Interior Jeseth Thaiseth.

The assistance comprises seven million baht (210,000 US dollars) in financial assistance, provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as essential relief supplies contributed by the Ministry of Public Health, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation under the Ministry of Interior, and the Thai private sector. 

The assistance is intended to support ongoing relief operations, alleviate the hardship faced by affected communities, and contribute to post-disaster recovery efforts. The provision of assistance reflects Thailand’s longstanding friendship and solidarity with Nepal and its people in times of hardship.

Previously, on 3 September, Mr. Sarun Charoensuwan, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, signed the condolence book following the flash floods and landslides in Nepal at the Embassy of Nepal in Bangkok.

The Vice Minister expressed his deepest condolences over the loss of lives and damage inflicted by the disaster, and reaffirmed Thailand’s readiness to assist Nepal in relief efforts, post-disaster recovery, and capacity-building for future disaster prevention.

The Ambassador expressed appreciation to Thailand and briefed the Vice Minister on the latest situation, noting that the number of casualties and missing persons continues to rise, with more than 1,200 people reported dead and over 4,000 still missing.
