The Senate, during its special session on 11 September 2026, approved the 2027 national budget bill, which has been set at 3.788 trillion baht – an increase of 7.4 billion baht, or 0.2 percent, from the previous year. 

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul thanked the President of the Senate and all senators for their approval of the fiscal 2027 budget expenditure bill, which sailed through the House of Representatives at its second and third readings on 10 September. 

He said that the national budget would serve as a major driver for government policies, the national strategy, and the national development plan. It aims to strengthen stability, uplift the people’s quality of life, reduce disparities, and boost sustainable economic growth.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed that the Senate's views, recommendations, and concerns would be taken into consideration by the Government for improvements, ensuring that the public receives the maximum benefit from the national budget.

He expressed confidence that the national budget would meet its objectives, reassuring that the Government would ensure transparency and accountability in spending to drive the country forward amidst today's rapidly changing environment.

The 2027 budget bill was cut by 11.162 billion baht by a special House scrutiny committee ahead of its second and third readings in the House of Representatives. The biggest cuts came from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, followed by the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Interior, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, and the Ministry of Transport. 

The 2027 National Budget will take effect on 1 October 2026 and end on 30 September 2027.
