The Cabinet, during its special meeting on 27 September 2026 chiared by Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, approved special public holidays on 28-29 September in four provinces in response to heavy rain and flooding. The four provinces include Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, and Samut Prakan. 

Deputy Government Spokesperson Lalida Persvivatana stated that the special holidays were announced to mitigate travel impacts in flood-affected areas. Nevertheless, essential public services and critical state functions will continue uninterrupted, and government agencies must maintain necessary operations online. 

For agencies handling essential duties, urgent matters, or pre-scheduled appointments that could cause significant harm to the public if canceled, heads of these agencies may use their discretion to keep services running smoothly and minimize disruption to the people. 

For state enterprises, financial institutions, and the private sector, each entity should consider the necessity and appropriateness of declaring those days public holidays, in compliance with the relevant laws in each case. 

In addition, each state enterprise, the Bank of Thailand, the Ministry of Labor, insurance companies, hospitals, and medical facilities are to consider taking actions as deemed appropriate, while the Stock Exchange of Thailand will remain open as usual.
