The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) reported on 28 September that flooding continues to affect Bangkok and 27 provinces. As of 6:00 a.m., the situation has impacted 151 districts, 792 subdistricts, 4,087 villages, and 576,449 households, affecting a total of 1,793,887 residents. DDPM has deployed personnel and disaster response equipment to assist residents and accelerate water drainage.

According to DDPM Director-General Theerapat Katchamat, water levels are rising in 11 provinces: Nakhon Sawan, Chai Nat, Sing Buri, Suphan Buri, Kanchanaburi, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Pathum Thani, Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Sa Kaeo, and Chon Buri.

Water levels remain steady in Bangkok and seven provinces, namely Uthai Thani, Lop Buri, Ang Thong, Nakhon Pathom, Chachoengsao, Trat, and Surin. Levels were falling in eight provinces: Phitsanulok, Phetchabun, Saraburi, Samut Prakan, Rayong, Chanthaburi, Buri Ram, and Nakhon Ratchasima. Chaiyaphum was also listed as receding in the province-by-province breakdown, though omitted from the eight-province summary.

The highest numbers of affected households were recorded in Samut Prakan (259,824), Chon Buri (118,723), Pathum Thani (65,717), and Bangkok (52,000). Water levels are currently falling in Samut Prakan, rising in Chon Buri and Pathum Thani, and remaining steady in Bangkok.

The DDPM stated that it is coordinating with provincial and local authorities, police, military personnel, volunteers, and relief organizations. Rescue teams are using mobile pumps and other equipment to drain flooded areas, evacuate vulnerable residents to safe zones, and distribute clean drinking water. Relief efforts will continue as the situation is closely monitored.

On the same day, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Supamas Isarabhakdi inspected the drainage system in Bang Phli District, Samut Prakan Province. She said that floodwater had begun to recede in several areas, while relevant agencies continued pumping operations and relief efforts.

The minister also visited a temporary shelter housing over 300 evacuees and the Chaturamit community, where an estimated 600 households were reported to be affected. Local agencies have been instructed to assess each household’s needs, prioritize older people and bedridden patients, and provide regular updates regarding support and safety before residents return home. 

Minister Supamas emphasized that the Government will closely monitor the situation, keep the public informed of the progress of assistance measures, and maintain ongoing support encompassing immediate relief, recovery, and rehabilitation.
