Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul has proposed that Airbus promote the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) derived from agricultural raw materials in Thailand. The move aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the aviation sector while increasing the value of Thai agricultural products and boosting income for local farmers.
On 2 October 2026, the Prime Minister welcomed Executive Vice President for International Affairs of Airbus Wouter van Wersch at Government House to discuss expanding cooperation between Thailand and Airbus in the aviation industry, space technology, human resource development, and clean energy.
Airbus plans to establish a Center of Excellence in Thailand to serve as a hub for knowledge, technology, and talent development. Connected with Airbus's global network, this initiative will expand opportunities for Thai professionals to master advanced technologies and enhance the long-term capabilities of Thailand’s industrial sector.
Both sides also discussed cooperation with Thai Airways International, as well as workforce development in the aviation sector, to support the industry's growth and achieve Thailand’s goal of becoming a regional aviation hub.
Additionally, the Prime Minister encouraged Airbus to expand its collaboration with Thai agencies, such as the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) and Thaicom Public Company Limited, to facilitate technology and knowledge transfer in space technology and related fields.
