Spotlighting AI, Youth, and Thailand's Strengths at 2026 IMF-WBG Meetings on 12 October

The opening day of the 2026 IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings begins today, 12 October, at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. It features discussions connecting global economic issues with everyday life – from job opportunities in the artificial intelligence (AI) era and the future of young people to inclusive development and Thailand’s capabilities showcased at the Thailand Pavilion.

From 10:00 to 11:30, the panel “Small AI: More and Better Jobs” explores how practical AI applications can help create jobs and improve job quality. For people in Thailand, key questions include how workers and small businesses can access this technology and what skills they need to benefit from emerging opportunities.

From 11:30 to 12:45, the “Youth Dialogue with First Deputy Managing Director” offers an opportunity to hear young people’s perspectives and questions on the economic future, providing insights to help them plan their learning and prepare for a rapidly changing world of work.

From 13:00 to 14:00, “Civil Society Townhall with World Bank Group President Ajay Banga” provides a forum for dialogue between civil society and the World Bank Group President. Key focuses include development proposals that address people’s everyday needs and ways to ensure that the benefits of economic growth reach more people.

From 16:30 to 17:20, the Thailand Pavilion Opening Ceremony will showcase Thailand’s strengths in three areas: digital public infrastructure, climate resilience, and longevity. Featured examples include PromptPay, water management, and healthcare systems. A royal exhibition will also highlight royal development initiatives aimed at improving people’s quality of life.
