Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sihasak Phuangketkeow has underscored the importance of adapting to global uncertainties and challenges to foster sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
On 11 October 2026, the Deputy Prime Minister participated in the “Bloomberg Invest Bangkok: Growth in an Age of Turbulence” roundtable discussion, jointly organized by Bangkok Bank and Bloomberg. The event was held on the sidelines of the 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group (IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings 2026), hosted by Thailand from 12 to 18 October 2026 in Bangkok.
The event provided an opportunity to exchange views with leading private sector executives on global and regional developments, as well as emerging opportunities and challenges affecting the global economy and investment.
The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted that the global economy would continue to gravitate toward the Asia-Pacific region, while ASEAN would remain one of the world's most economically dynamic and geopolitically stable regions.
In order to capitalize on these opportunities, he said, ASEAN must accelerate regional economic integration, digital transformation, and cooperation on clean energy and energy security, all of which require close collaboration between the public and private sectors.
For its part, Thailand remains committed to pursuing continuous reforms, particularly through its efforts to accede to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), with a view to enhancing its competitiveness and strengthening economic resilience.
The Deputy Prime Minister further emphasized that regional cooperation and collective efforts would be key to turning challenges into opportunities.
