Thailand Outlines Three AI Priorities for Job and Income Growth

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Ekniti Nitithanprapas has outlined Thailand’s AI strategy at the World Bank Flagship Event, “Small AI, Big Jobs,” during the 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group.

The strategy comprises “All in AI” – building capabilities across the AI value chain, from data centers, cloud computing, and related industries to skills and research and development; “AI in All” – using practical, small-scale AI to boost productivity, reduce costs, and expand markets for businesses and SMEs; and “AI for All” – using data and digital infrastructure to deliver targeted welfare and connect people with skills training, jobs, and credit.

Speaking at this event on 12 October, Mr. Ekniti highlighted government efforts to attract investment in data centers, cloud computing, and digital industries. He emphasized that these investments must generate high-skilled jobs, drive R&D, and empower Thai manufacturers, universities, and the local digital ecosystem.

Through the Skill Bridge program, 42 projects have been approved, with 2.03 billion baht (about 60.5 million US dollars) in funding, targeting training for 76,728 people. The Government is also promoting AI applications that build on Thailand’s strengths in healthcare, agriculture, and tourism, with opportunities to expand into regional markets.

For small vendors, “AI Nok Krasip (Whispering Bird)” in the Tung Ngern (Money Bag) app helps analyze sales, costs, and profits to improve inventory management. AI will also help workers access upskilling opportunities and high-skilled jobs, facilitate access to formal credit, and enable more targeted welfare assistance, while strengthening digital financial security.
