Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul on 12 October 2026 hosted a tea reception in honor of Mr. Tharman Shanmugaratnam, the President of the Republic of Singapore, who visited Thailand as guest of the Royal Thai Government.

Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs Sarun Charoensuwan, on behalf of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sihasak Phuangketkeow, also attended the tea reception, held at Government House.

The President of Singapore is attending the 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group, hosted by Thailand from 12 to 18 October at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok.

During their meeting, Prime Minister Anutin and the President of Singapore discussed the close Thailand - Singapore relations, reflected in sustained high-level engagements and exchanges of visits.

They also agreed to further strengthen the Thailand - Singapore Forward-Looking Strategic Partnership and deliver more concrete outcomes, particularly in key areas including the digital economy, food security, energy security, fintech and capital-market connectivity, human resource development, and combating transnational crime and online scams.

Both sides exchanged views on international issues, particularly in the economic sector. They also discussed close coordination to ensure continuity in ASEAN’s priority agendas, as Singapore and Thailand prepare to assume ASEAN Chairmanship in 2027 and 2028, respectively.
