On 14 October 2026 at 19.00 hr, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul hosted a welcome dinner for finance ministers and central bank governors attending the 2026 Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund in Bangkok. The dinner was held at the Outer Santi Maitri Building, Government House.

Government Spokesperson Ekkapob Pianpises quoted the Prime Minister as saying that Thailand was delighted to host the meetings again after 35 years. The Prime Minister stressed the importance of future cooperation in an increasingly interconnected global economy. 

He explained that the name of the “Santi Maitri Building,” where the dinner was held, means “Peace and Friendship.” He, therefore, hoped that the evening would provide an opportunity for everyone to meet and build networks together.

At the welcome dinner, the distinguished guests experienced the charm of Thai culture through various activities, such as exhibitions, product booths, fine dining, traditional souvenirs, and performances, including Joe Louis Traditional Thai Puppet Show and music.

There was also a special performance by Nene Royal, or Praew –Rattikarn Amloy, the winner of America’s Got Talent 2026, who is the first Thai person to win the championship on this global stage.

The Government Spokesperson described the welcome dinner as a wonderful opportunity to promote Thailand’s favorable image. Every detail meticulously prepared by Thailand – from the venue decoration, activities, and performances to the food and beverages, combined with the warm hospitality of Thailand as the host – weaved together the story of Thai culture and showcased Thailand's potential across economic, social, and cultural dimensions.

He expressed hope that the welcome dinner would create fond memories and deep impressions, inspiring global leaders and distinguished guests to get to know Thailand and Thai culture even better.
