Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, after his return to Thailand on 1 November 2025, gave a briefing on Thailand’s success in its participation in the 47th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on 26-28 October, and the 32nd APEC Economic Leaders’ Week (AELW) in Gyeongju, Republic of Korea, from 29 October to 1 November.
In these two important meetings, the Prime Minister held talks with leaders from 15 countries, representatives from three international organizations, and CEOs from more than 20 global corporations. Thailand focused on positioning itself as a regional hub in four major areas, namely food security, logistics and transportation, digital industry, and the green economy.
He stated that, in the discussions, Thailand moved to open up its market for Thai rice and other agricultural products more widely. It also asked South Korea to increase the labor quota for Thai workers and improve entry procedures for Thai tourists. Thailand and Canada explored opportunities for collaboration on several areas, such as food security and the opening of more direct flights between the two countries.
The Prime Minister said that Thailand and Singapore discussed the signing of an MOU on rice trade between the two countries, while Thailand and Malaysia would work together to support global food supply chains. Thailand and Brunei Darussalam discussed cooperation in halal food security, wellness tourism, and agricultural exports.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to anti-cybercrime operations and proposed to host a meeting with the participation of China, the United States, Canada, South Korea, and Australia to combat cybercrime.
In his discussion with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Prime Minister Anutin said that China agreed to increase its quota for Thai rice imports by an additional 500,000 tons. He also met U.S. President Donald J. Trump several times in Malaysia and South Korea to create confidence in the development of tariff negotiations between the two countries.
The Prime Minister said that the outcomes of these two important meetings would open doors even more for international cooperation to improve Thai people’s quality of life and bring greater stability to the country on both a short- and long-term basis.
