The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement stressing that Thailand is closely monitoring the situation in the Middle East with grave concern.
The statement says “We urge all the parties to prevent the conflict from further deterioration, thereby undermining international peace and security and affecting innocent civilians. Thailand reiterates the urgency of dialogue and diplomacy.”
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has affirmed the Thai government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of Thai nationals amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, which are expected to have broader implications for the global economy, including Thailand.
In a statement posted on his official Facebook page and published on 1 March 2026, the Prime Minister emphasized that although Thailand is not directly involved in the conflict, tens of thousands of Thai citizens are living and working across the region, particularly in Iran and Israel. He stressed that the safety and well-being of Thai nationals remain the Government’s highest priority.
The Prime Minister stated that he has been closely coordinating with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Air Force to prepare aircraft to evacuate Thai nationals stranded in Iran. The Government will take all necessary measures to ensure their safe and timely return to Thailand.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also established an operation center to closely assess the situation and implement comprehensive assistance measures. All relevant agencies, including the Office of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Labor, the Ministry of Public Health, the Ministry of Defense, and the Ministry of Interior, have been instructed to remain on full operational readiness around the clock.
The Prime Minister acknowledged that the conflict may affect Thailand’s economy, particularly during its recovery phase. However, he assured that the Government would take proactive measures to minimize the impact and safeguard national economic stability.
He reaffirmed that the Government would operate at the best of its ability to protect Thai nationals overseas and ensure their safe return as quickly as possible. The Prime Minister also gave moral support to all Thais in the high-risk areas.
