Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul on 17 July 2026 paid a courtesy call on Mr. Xi Jinping, President of the People's Republic of China, at Xijiao State Guest Hotel in Shanghai, as part of his official visit to the People’s Republic of China.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sihasak Phuangketkeow also joined the Prime Minister in his meeting with the Chinese President, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Both sides exchanged views on Thai-Chinese relations and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the Thailand–China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership. They also underscored their shared determination to advance cooperation at all levels and across all frameworks to deliver tangible outcomes for the mutual benefit of their peoples.

In addition, both sides reaffirmed the importance of promoting cooperation to advance regional interests and peace, particularly in the areas of green economy, science, technology, and the digital economy.

The Prime Minister also commended China's role in promoting multilateralism under the leadership of President Xi Jinping. President Xi also appreciated the Prime Minister's participation in the opening ceremony of the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) at his invitation.

At the opening ceremony of WAIC on 17 July, Prime Minister Anutin delivered remarks, saying that the AI future must leave no one behind. To achieve this, AI governance must do three things: it must protect people, unlock potential, and create shared prosperity.

He said that AI must never become another source of division or geopolitical competition. Instead, it should become a platform for partnership. “Let us bridge our differences, widen areas of cooperation, and strengthen the safeguards that allow innovation to flourish responsibly. This is how we ensure that AI helps unite us around a future that is safer, more prosperous and leaves no one behind,” the Prime Minister said.
