Thailand and Indonesia have moved to expand the Thailand – Indonesia Strategic Partnership and agreed to increase bilateral trade to 23 billion US dollars by 2030 from about 19.5 billion dollars at present.

During his official to Indonesia on 3-4 August 2026, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul discussed with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto efforts to create greater economic opportunities and strengthen stability for the people of both countries, as well as promoting ASEAN’s unity and strength.

The Prime Minister invited the Indonesian private sector to invest in Thailand. Indonesia, with a population of 280 million, the largest in ASEAN, is both a major market, an important investment hub, and a potential partner for Thai entrepreneurs.

Both sides agreed to promote jointly the halal industry by integrating the strength of Indonesia, as a large Muslim market, with Thailand’s production potential and halal standards, in order to increase halal economic value for Thai and Indonesian entrepreneurs.

Prime Minister Anutin and the Indonesian President welcomed a memorandum of understanding between the Tourism Authority of Thailand and TransNusa Airlines to launch direct Bangkok-Jakarta and Phuket-Bali flights.

Following a joint press conference, the Prime Minister attended a ceremony honoring the Indonesian President. At the ceremony, the Royal Thai Army Special Warfare Command presented the Indonesian President with the Special Recognition Insignia in appreciation of security cooperation between Thailand and Indonesia and the long-standing ties between their armed forces.

The International Counter Terrorism Operations Center also presented the Indonesian President with its commemorative shield and unit wings to honor counterterrorism cooperation between Thailand and Indonesia, especially in the operation “Woyla,” carried out by Indonesia's Kopassus Special Forces, which played an important role in security cooperation.
