Prime Minister Anutin Begins His Official Visit to Australia

Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul arrived in Sydney, Australia, at 10:00 p.m. local time on 17 August 2026, beginning his official visit to Australia from 17 to 20 August 2026. An official welcoming ceremony will be held on Wednesday, 19 August, at Government House in Canberra.

On 18 August, the Prime Minister will pay a courtesy call on the Governor of New South Wales at Government House and deliver an address at the Lowy Institute, a leading Australian international policy think tank. He will also meet members of the Thai community in Sydney’s Thai Town and hold discussions with executives of Canva Pty Ltd.⁠, a leading Australian technology company, to promote Thailand–Australia cooperation in the digital economy.

In the afternoon, the Prime Minister will meet with business leaders at Crown Sydney to strengthen business ties and explore new trade and investment opportunities between the Thai and Australian private sectors. He will later attend a dinner with representatives of the Thai private sector before departing for Canberra at 9:30 p.m.

The Prime Minister’s official visit, which marks the first official visit by a Thai prime minister in 14 years, is made upon an invitation of The Honourable Anthony Albanese, Prime Minister of Australia.

His delegation includes Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Ekniti Nitithanprapas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Labor Julapun Amornvivat, Minister of Culture Sabeeda Thaised, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Piyarat Tiyapairat, Prime Minister’s Secretary General Traisuree Taisaranakul, and Board of Investment Secretary General Narit Therdsteerasukdi.
