The Royal Thai Embassy organised a cooking class with trainees from UNIKLEARN, An-Nur Harapan in conjunction with the birthday celebration of Her Majesty Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana of Thailand, held at the An-Nur Harapan Centre on Jalan Kebangsaan.
Joining the activity were His Excellency Akrapong Chalermnon, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Thailand to Brunei Darussalam, accompanied by his spouse, Mrs Thanamas Chalermnon, as well as officials from the Royal Thai Embassy.
During the event, Chef Tanaporn Toemkoa from the Royal Thai Embassy conducted a demonstration on preparing the traditional Thai dessert Luk Chup (mung bean marzipan shaped like fruits) for UNIKLEARN trainees and staff.
Earlier in his welcoming remarks, His Excellency Akrapong Chalermnon, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Thailand to Brunei Darussalam, explained that this was the first volunteer activity organised since his appointment to the post earlier this year.
His Excellency said that the Royal Volunteer Programme, established by His Majesty the King of Thailand, was founded in honour of the late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great and his consort, the late Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother, in recognition of their lifelong dedication and contributions to the Thai people and nation.
At the forefront of the volunteer movement, His Excellency added, was Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati Kromluangrajasarinisiribajra Mahavajrarajadhita, who passed away on 11th June 2026. The late Princess followed in the footsteps of her grandparents and served as an exemplary role model of genuine volunteerism.
His Excellency further noted that the Royal Thai Embassy's cooking class series has been conducted with UNIKLEARN since August 2023 on the initiative of Her Excellency Boosara Kanchanalai, former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Thailand to Brunei Darussalam.
He added that the fifth edition of the Royal Thai Embassy's cooking class marks the continuation of a meaningful tradition, and that he was honoured to continue the collaboration for the benefit of the trainees while further strengthening the enduring friendship between both parties.
"Today, I am pleased to introduce Chef Tanaporn Toemkoa, better known as Chef Kik, from the Royal Thai Embassy, who will conduct a hands-on session on making Luk Chup, a traditional Thai dessert made from mung bean paste and shaped to resemble fruits.
"We hope this colourful activity will bring joy, inspire creativity and create wonderful memories for all trainees and staff of An-Nur Harapan," His Excellency said in concluding his remarks.
