MFA issues digital passports and e-visas to move toward digital government

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has now started issuing electronic or digital passports to the general public, according to the government spokesman, Anucha Burapachaisri. The new type of passport is linked with the Interior Ministry's Digital ID system. Moreover, the e-Visa system is currently operational at more than 38 Thai embassies and consulates located in 23 different nations. New features like contact verification will also be enabled, and user data will be kept in the cloud. The feature also includes a blacklisted person alert. The system's search functionality has also been enhanced to make it more convenient. The service is expected to be available in every country with an embassy and Thai consulates worldwide within three years.
