Anucha Burapachaisri, the government's spokesperson, disclosed that the Thai government had pledged its full support for the upcoming Songkran Festival from 13-15 April. Relevant state agencies are asked to plan elaborate celebrations for the event. Some 17 to 20 million tourists are expected to visit Thailand throughout the holiday season, according to the authorities. To ensure safety, visitors are encouraged to install the "I Lert U" smartphone application, which allows users to report issues and request assistance. Moreover, it locates the caller and sends help using the GPS signal from the phone. The application is available in Thai, English, Chinese, Russian, Japanese, Korean, French, German, Arabic, and most other languages used in Southeast Asia.
