South Korea to welcome more Thai workers

Thailand’s Ministry of Labor has inked a deal with a local government in the Republic of Korea on seasonal agricultural labor supply, allowing Thai workers to legally work in farming and fishing villages in Jinan, Jeollabuk province, for up to five months (on an E-8 visa), without requiring a Korean language test. The scheme aims to increase the quota for Thai workers to at least 5,000 people each year, thus offsetting labor shortages in South Korea. Those interested in the E-8 visa program can learn more at www.doe.go.th.
