Pol Gen Surachate Hakparn, deputy commissioner of the Royal Thai Police, recently discussed with Sar Thet, the head of the national police of Cambodia, ways to improve ties between the two countries, particularly in regards to the fight against cross-border crime. Pol. Gen. Surachate emphasized that the Cambodian police chief shared a similar desire to increase coordination to combat criminal activities in the area. Both parties had indicated their intention to cooperate on this crucial topic. In order to effectively address problems like drug offenses, human trafficking, and money laundering, Am Sam Ath, deputy director for monitoring at the rights organization LICADHO, underlined the significance of international cooperation. The safe village-community strategy, in particular, needs to be better applied, he said, in order to address these problems. To solve these issues, there must be better communication with all parties.
