Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra emphasized the success of the 3rd Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Summit, her first international engagement since taking office.
She noted that Thailand received a warm welcome and engaged in constructive discussions with several leaders. As the initiator of the ACD, Thailand has been at the forefront of promoting dialogue and cooperation across Asia. The meeting allowed regional countries to reconnect, share ideas, and explore investment opportunities, with many expressing interest in closer collaboration with Thailand.
The Prime Minister reported that several leaders inquired about Thailand’s position on technology and artificial intelligence (AI), highlighting Google’s recent investment as an example of the nation’s focus on technological development. She noted that AI remains a priority for many Asian nations, particularly in its integration into educational systems.
During the summit, members adopted the Doha Declaration, addressing regional geopolitical challenges and reaffirming ACD’s founding principles. As the founding member, Thailand reiterated its commitment to promoting peace and shared prosperity while respecting international law. Prime Minister Paetongtarn emphasized Thailand’s stance against violence and its dedication to protecting innocent lives in line with the United Nations Charter.
In separate bilateral talks with H.E. Mr. Masoud Pezeshkian, Iranian President, discussions centered on trade and investment. The leaders also addressed the growing tensions in the Middle East. Thailand maintained its neutral stance, underscoring the importance of peace and stability. Moving forward, the Prime Minister plans to develop a clear strategy based on these discussions to strengthen economic growth and enhance international partnerships.
