Supermodel Naomi Campbell has met with Thai officials to discuss Soft Power development, focusing on expanding opportunities in the fashion industry. The meeting included Dr. Surapong Suebwonglee, Deputy Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister and Chair of the National Soft Power Development Committee, Prime Minister’s Office Minister Jiraporn Sindhuprai, and Deputy Minister of Interior Theerarat Samrejvanich, who oversees community development programs.
Discussions centered on creating career pathways for young individuals from rural or disadvantaged backgrounds by providing training and industry access. One proposal involves identifying and developing aspiring models in Thailand, with local professionals offering initial mentorship before selected individuals receive advanced training abroad.
Campbell, who has been involved in global fashion initiatives, shared insights from her experience and expressed support for improving accessibility within the industry. The conversation also covered potential programs to connect Thai talent with international markets through professional guidance and structured training.
Although she will not serve as a cultural ambassador, Campbell will act as a consultant, advising on ways Thailand can strengthen its presence in the global fashion industry. Her involvement will include leveraging her extensive network and expertise to provide strategic recommendations on Soft Power development through fashion and modeling.
