The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is set to host the 17th World Wai Kru Muay Thai Ceremony on March 16 and 17 at Ayutthaya Historical Park. Organized in partnership with Ayutthaya province and leading martial arts organizations, the event brings together Muay Thai practitioners and visitors to celebrate the sport’s cultural heritage.
Held as part of the “Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025” campaign, the event will feature demonstrations of four traditional Muay Thai styles, training sessions, and exhibitions on the sport’s history. Visitors will be offered a chance to experience Thai handicrafts such as Yantra tattooing and sword forging, explore an ancient Thai market, and watch cultural performances alongside Muay Thai matches.
On 17 March, thousands of fighters will take part in the Grand Wai Kru Ceremony, a tradition where Muay Thai practitioners pay respect to their masters. Leading the event will be experienced fighters such as Prajanchai P.K. Saenchai and Ferrari Fairtex.
With over 5,000 people expected, including 1,800 international visitors, the event is anticipated to generate 158 million baht in economic activity.
