The Amazing Thailand x LISA campaign has triggered a surge of interest in the Red Lotus Sea at Nong Han Lake in Kumphawapi district, Udon Thani province, drawing large numbers of Thai and international visitors and generating what tourism officials describe as the “LISA Effect.” The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) projects at least 120,000 visitors during the 2026 Red Lotus Sea tourism season, which runs from November 2025 to February 2026.
TAT said the campaign has helped raise the destination’s international profile while supporting income distribution within local communities. The Red Lotus Sea, traditionally popular with domestic travelers, has seen a sharp rise in foreign arrivals this season, supporting Udon Thani’s standing as an emerging tourism destination and boosting demand for local services and products.
Data from community enterprises providing boat services at Ban Diam Pier show that between December 1, 2025, and January 25, 2026, a total of 50,306 tourists visited the area. Thai visitors numbered 26,019, or 51.73 percent, while 24,287 visitors, or 48.27 percent, came from overseas, including China, Laos, Germany, and Japan.
Demand for boat tours has been driven in part by visitors seeking to recreate photo experiences linked to the campaign. On January 24, operators recorded 254 large boat trips and 70 small boat trips, serving 1,664 visitors and generating 148,000 baht in revenue. The following day saw 457 large boat trips and 97 small boat trips, carrying 2,937 visitors and generating 257,600 baht. Combined revenue from boat services over the two days totaled 405,600 baht.
Tourists can arrange boat rentals at four main piers: Ban Diam Pier (089-395-0871), Ban Don Kong Pier (063-141-6496), Ban Chae Lae Pier (089-899-6529), and Ban Chiang Waen Pier (092-805-6459 or 089-788-2272). The recommended visiting period is between 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., from mid-January to mid-February.
