The Royal Thai Navy is conducting the first Chao Phraya River rehearsal for the 2026 Royal Barge Procession on August 17, with the public invited to watch from designated areas along both banks between Krung Thon Bridge and Wat Arun Ratchawararam.

The rehearsal is expected to begin at about 2:30 p.m., according to the Royal Thai Navy’s Civil Affairs Department. Two full-dress rehearsals will follow on October 21 and 28 before the Royal Barge Procession on November 6, when His Majesty the King will travel by water to present Kathina robes in connection with celebrations of Her Majesty the Queen’s fourth-cycle, or 48th, birthday anniversary.

The Marine Department will impose temporary navigation controls during rehearsals on August 17, 20, and 27. On the Chao Phraya River, restrictions will cover the section between Krung Thon Bridge and Phra Pok Klao Bridge from 9 a.m. until operations are completed. All vessels will also be prohibited from entering the section of the Bangkok Noi Canal between its mouth and Wat Suwannaram from 12:30 p.m. until each rehearsal ends.

Boat operators, vessel owners, and boat masters have been instructed to comply with the navigation controls to ensure safety and orderly river traffic. The Royal Thai Navy will provide further information if there are any changes to the rehearsal schedule or spectator arrangements.
