{"version":"https:\/\/jsonfeed.org\/version\/1","title":"6th Cycle Birthday Celebration of HM King Rama X","home_page_url":"https:\/\/thailand.prd.go.th","feed_url":"https:\/\/thailand.prd.go.th\/en\/content\/category\/index\/id\/2875","items":[{"id":"bf33125cd62df0992bf07ddf9c3e155e","title":"Two Commemorative Archways in Honor of His Majesty the King","content_text":"<p><strong>His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and Her Majesty Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana will preside over the opening of two commemorative archways built in Bangkok in honor of His Majesty the King.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Members of the public are invited to attend an audience with Their Majesties the King and Queen at the opening ceremony,&nbsp;scheduled for 17.00 hr on Saturday, 25 January 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>The two archways are meant to commemorate two special occasions; one for the &ldquo;Celebrations on the Auspicious Occasion of His Majesty the King&rsquo;s 6th Cycle Birthday Anniversary 28th July 2024,&rdquo; and the other for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Thai-Chinese diplomatic relations in 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>The two archways are located on Charoen Krung Road in Phra Nakhon District. One of them, which is near Damrong Sathit bridge,&nbsp;was granted the name &quot;Vajira Sathit Chet Sip Song Phansa&quot; by His Majesty the King. The event, taking place on 3 December 2024, commemorated His Majesty&rsquo;s 72nd birthday anniversary and was the first of its kind during his reign. The ceremony featured the Royal Guards from all three branches of the armed forces, displaying their discipline and loyalty to the monarchy.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Her Majesty the Queen led the Royal Guards as Commander of the Combined Guards Unit, while Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya participated as Commanding Officer of the Royal Horse Guards Regiment, leading the mounted battalion on &ldquo;F&uuml;rst Henry,&rdquo; a Dutch Warmblood horse. All people are invited to pay homage to the sacred tooth relics, which will&nbsp;be temporary enshrined at the Sanam Luang ceremonial ground in Bangkok. The tooth relics will be returned to China on 15 February 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>The Government has constructed a pavilion at Sanam Luang to house the tooth relics. On 30 October, Mr. Chousak presided over a ceremony to launch the construction of the pavilion, with the participation of executives from relevant agencies. He said that the Ministry of Culture, through the Fine Arts Department, had been assigned to design the pavilion, which blends Chinese and Thai artistic elements and reflects the cultures of both countries, which share&nbsp;close bonds.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>The Chinese government previously allowed the sacred tooth relics to be enshrined in various countries on six occasions. Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya and His Royal Highness Prince Dipangkorn Rasmijoti were aboard the Royal Barge Anekkachatphutchong.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>The Royal Thai Navy, which organized the Royal Barge Procession, reported that the procession comprised 52 barges, manned by 2,412 crew members. Among the barges were four principal royal barges: the Suphannahong, or Golden Swan; the Anantanakkharat, or Multi-headed Naga; the Narai Song Suban King Rama IX; and the Anekkachatphutchong, or Innumerable Naga Figures.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>The procession was arranged into five lines with three rows. The total length from the Wasukri pier to Wat Arun is 3.9 kilometers. The chanting of boat songs was also organized&nbsp;during the procession. The boat songs were sung by two naval officers. They consisted of four verse chapters, composed by Rear Admiral Thongyoi Sangsinchai, a retired naval officer.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Thai kings have undertaken this ceremonial water-borne procession since the Sukhothai period (the 13th century). The royal barge procession originated from a battle formation in ancient times when the king led forces to fight a war. When they traveled by boat, a magnificent royal barge procession would be formed. During the opening ceremony on Thursday, 3 October, a candle-lit event will take place to pay tribute to His Majesty the King, together with a float parade of the goddess of mercy Guanyin, lion and dragon dances, and other shows.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>The symbol for the Vegetarian Festival is a small yellow flag placed at vegetarian food stalls. Yellow represents Buddhism and good moral conduct. This festival encourages people to be aware of compassion for other lives. It also gives the people an opportunity to discipline themselves, so that they can clean their minds and practice acts of virtue.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Originally, the festival was observed in Chinese communities or among ethnic Chinese, or Thais of Chinese origin. Today, a large number of people, regardless of their origin and beliefs, join the festival. Some people participate because vegetarian food is good for health. They believe that by consuming only meat-free meals for the period, they will cleanse their bodies and minds.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Bangkok&rsquo;s Chinatown, where the festival is celebrated on a wide scale each year, is an old business center, covering a large area around Yaowarat and Charoen Krung roads.
